Is beetroot juice the elixir of youth?
According to new research, drinking a fresh red beetroot juice can help people to lead more active lives.
A study, shows that people who drank red beetroot juice, require less energy to do any kind of physical activity with lower intensity. Efforts to walk were reduced by 12%.
Experts found that this scarlet fluid allows adults to perform tasks that otherwise would be hard to finish.
Red beetroot juice dilates blood vessels and reduces the amount of oxygen needed by the muscles during physical effort. It also contains dietary nitrate and researches wanted to know if the high nitrate content of beetroot juice could reduce the oxygen intake and lower blood pressure.
However other sources say that the research involved a very small number of people, most of them fairly young and the final conclusion should be taken with a pinch of skepticism.
Nevertheless, if you like drinking beetroot juice you should drink it because it contains many minerals and vitamins. But like many things in life, don’t overdo it, because it’s not known for sure if the beetroot juice is elixir of youth or not.
