The 1200 calories diet

This diet is based on consuming 1200 calories a day, and it is a good way to get rid of excess pounds, because that is the minimum recommended calories for women who want to slim healthy and in safe manner.

What includes the diet?

The concept of this diet is to control the intake of calories during the day. If you eat fewer calories than you would spend during the day, the result is a reduction of body weight.

There aren’t a specific foods that you should consume, simply you need to know how many calories each food has and to eat 1200 calories a day. It is best to concentrate on fresh fruits, vegetables, beans and grain foods. As much as possible, eat more fresh food, not cooked. So the food will contain fewer calories and more nutrients.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like the other diets, this diet also has advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:
You can eat the food of your choice, not just certain foods as the other diets.
Diet in which you consume fewer calories that you’ll spend, is a proven way of weight loss.
This diet can be adapted for vegetarians and diabetics.
If you consume food properly, you’ll  not feel hunger.
Disadvantages:
You always need to measure food that you eat and count calories.
Not suitable for very active persons.
This diet is with low calories and therefore some people may feel hunger and fatigue when they start to practice it.
Sample Plan
Breakfast: 1 cup cornflakes, 1 cup fat free milk, a banana.
Snack: pear.
Lunch: sandwich with tuna, light mayonnaise and wholewheat bread, 2 cups fresh vegetables (carrots, celery) and a small apple.
Snacks: natural juice, sparkling water with lemon.
Dinner: 100g grilled steak or grilled chicken, ¾ cup of steamed green vegetables, a cup of green salad, ½ cup carrots, ½ cup tomatoes, 2 tea spoons olive oil and vinegar, a peach.
