relaxing spa treatment at home

Every woman deserves to have one evening dedicated just for pampering and relaxation. And you shouldn’t spend too much money or time to plan a trip to a spa when you can create your own relaxing spa treatment at home. You’ll need just a few things from your kitchen and an hour or two just for yourself.

Create your own relaxing spa treatment at home

Create a relaxing atmosphere

In order to have a truly relaxing spa treatment at home, you need to create a relaxing atmosphere. Fill your bathtub with warm water, prepare a soft towels and bath sponges. Also take a large bath towel and fold it so you’ll create a pillow on which you can rest your head while you soak in the relaxing bath water. To make the atmosphere extra special, light one (or couple) of your favorite scented candle and play some soft and relaxing music or some music with nature sounds that will transport you to the beach or a wild rain forest. If you decide to play some music, keep the electrical device (radio or phone) away from the water.

Prepare a relaxing bath pouch with lavender and rosemary

This is a simple and easy way to make a homemade relaxing bath pouch that you can customize according to your preference. You can use your favorite herbs and spices, just make sure that they are dry, because dry herbs have stronger scent and will make your bath water smell amazing. For this homemade relaxing bath pouch you will need: 3 teaspoons of dried lavender and 2 teaspoons of dried rosemary. Take a small square piece of cheesecloth, place the herbs in the middle, lift the corners and tie the cheesecloth with a ribbon making a small pouch. When you start to fill your bathtub with warm water, add the pouch to the water and let it infuse your water with a relaxing scent.

Prepare a homemade relaxing bath with chamomile and mint

If you don’t like to use bath salts, another alternative that can make your bath pleasant and relaxing is just using teabags. When you start to fill your bathtub with warm water, add 2-3 teabags of chamomile tea or mint tea into the water and you’ll have nice and relaxing scent. Chamomile tea won’t stain your skin, but if you worry that the mint tea will stain your skin, use a few drops of peppermint essential oil instead.

Prepare a homemade relaxing vanilla bath salt

There is something very comforting in a vanilla scent, probably because it reminds us of cakes and cookies. Vanilla is a scent that many of us adore so you can enjoy it by making a homemade vanilla bath salt. You will need: 1/4 cup of sea salt or Himalayan salt, 1/4 cup of Epsom salt (you can also skip it) and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence (if you want stronger scent use 1 teaspoon). In a bowl, place the salts, add the vanilla essence and mix well until the vanilla is incorporated into the salts. You can use the salts immediately, or you can make a bigger batch and store them in a dry place and use them for another relaxing bath. If you want to make your bath water pink or blue, add a few drops of food coloring and mix it into the salt, just don’t add too much so you won’t stain your skin.

Extra tip! If you want to make a relaxing bath with bath pouch or bath salt but you also want to have bubbles too, use a baby wash or bubble bath that is lightly scented or has no scent. This way the scents won’t mix and you’ll enjoy a bubble bath with your favorite scent.

Homemade moisturizing facial mask with avocado

No homemade relaxing spa treatment is complete without some homemade moisturizing facial mask, and this is a simple and easy face mask made by only one ingredient. Take half of a ripe avocado, scoop the flesh and mash it with a fork. Apply it on your face and leave it for 15-20 or wile you’re having your relaxing bath. If you want to make the DIY avocado face mask even more nourishing, add a teaspoon of honey or plain yogurt to the avocado.

Homemade moisturizing facial mask with peach and honey

This is another alternative for a homemade moisturizing face mask that smells and tastes great too. You will need one ripe peach and one teaspoon of honey. Cut the peach in half and remove the stone. Place the peach in a blender, add the honey and blend. If the mixture is too thin and you want to make it thicker, add 1-2 tablespoons of oatmeal. Apply the DIY moisturizing peach face mask on you face and leave it for 15-20 minutes or until you have your relaxing bath. Then rinse with warm water.

Homemade nourishing hair mask with banana and oil

If you have some overripe bananas and you don’t know what to do with them, you can turn them into a homemade nourishing hair mask. You will need: 1 banana and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil (or you can use avocado oil, sweet almond oil or coconut oil). Place the banana and the oil in a blender and blend until smooth. Transfer the mixture in a sieve and press it through the sieve to remove the fibers from the banana and to make the mask smooth, By doing this, you’ll rinse the DIY banana hair mask more easily from your hair. Apply the mask to your hair and leave it for 30-40 minutes or until you soak in the bath and rinse.

Prepare yourself for a good night’s sleep

After you’ve had your relaxing bath, rinse your face and hair mask and your body with warm water and wrap yourself with soft towels. Pat dry your body, apply your favorite body lotion or body butter and put on some comfy pajamas. Dry your hair and if you don’t feel sleepy you can make yourself some chamomile or mint tea and do your manicure or pedicure. After this relaxing homemade spa treatment, you’ll feel warm, comfortable and relaxed and you’ll be ready for a good night’s sleep.
