DIY homemade hair masks to stop hair loss

Homemade hair mask against hair loss with avocado and egg yolk

This homemade hair mask will make your hair stronger and healthier. You will need one ripe avocado and one egg yolk. Mash the avocado very well and run it through a sieve to make it really smooth (if you leave chunks in our avocado paste, it will be very hard to get them out of your hair). Mix the avocado puree with one egg yolk and apply the mixture to your roots and all the way to the ends. Put a shower cap on and leave the hair mask for 30-40 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water (don’t use too hot water so you won’t ‘cook’ the egg) and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual.

Homemade hair mask against hair loss with egg yolk and castor oil

Castor oil is one of the most used oils for hair growth. It is also used as an eyelash growth treatment too. For this homemade hair mask against hair loss you will need: 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of castor oil. You can also add 1 teaspoon of Vitamin A (if you can’t find liquid Vitamin A, you can take 3-4 softgel capsules of Vitamin A, poke them with a safety pin and squeeze the oil), but if you don’t have vitamin A on hand, you can skip it.
Beat the egg yolk and add the oil little by little until you get a mayonnaise like consistency. Apply this homemade hair mask on your scalp. Leave it for 1-2 hours and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Homemade hair mask against hair loss with banana and egg yolk

You will need one ripe banana and one egg yolk. Mash the banana very well and run it through a sieve to make a really smooth paste (banana chunks are also hard to get out of your hair, especially if you have long hair). Mix the banana paste with one egg yolk and apply the hair mask on your hair, put a shower cap on and leave it for 30-40 minutes. Rinse the homemade hair mask with lukewarm water and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner.

Homemade hair mask against hair loss with castor oil, almond oil and Vitamin A

This is a very good DIY hair mask for hair loss and very damaged hair. Mix 3 tablespoons of castor oil, 3 tablespoons of sweet almond oil and 1 teaspoon (or 3-4 softgel capsules ) of vitamin A. Apply the hair mask to your roots and throughout the hair. Put a shower cap on and wrap your head with warm towel. Leave the mask on your hair for 1-2 hours (if you can leave it overnight just protect your pillowcase with a towel). Rinse and wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner. You’ll notice that your hair is softer and shinier after the first use.

Homemade hair mask against hair loss with castor oil, brandy and egg

This homemade hair mask contains castor oil which is very thick, but it also contains a bit of brandy which has alcohol in it and it makes it a bit thinner and easier to apply. Don’t worry, the smell of alcohol disappears straight away once you wash your hair. Mix 2 tablespoons of castor oil with 2 tablespoons of brandy (or cognac) and one fresh egg. Apply the homemade hair mask to the hair roots and massage your scalp. Put a shower cap on and wrap your head with a warm towel. After 2 hours rinse the DIY hair mask and wash your hair as usual.

Onion is probably one of the strangest ingredients to be used in a DIY hair regrowth mask but people have been using it for this purpose for many years. It might not smell really nice, but you can mask the onion smell with few drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed onion juice (you can grate 1/2 onion and squeeze the juice) and 1 teaspoon of honey. Add a few drops of essential oil if you like. Apply the DIY hair mask on your roots and massage your scalp for few minutes. Put a shower cap on and wrap your hair with warm towel. If you don’t want to use unsalted butter on your hair, you can use shea butter or coconut oil. Melt 1/4 cup of unsalted butter  (or shea butter or coconut oil), but be careful not to burn it. Remove from it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Just before it hardens, add 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of royal jelly. This homemade hair mask can be applied from the roots to the ends. Leave it on your hair for 30-40 minutes (or 1-2 hours if you have time) and wash your hair with shampoo. This homemade hair mask is so rich, you don’t even have to use a conditioner (but you can still use it). This homemade hair mask is a also a great treatment for very damaged and brittle hair. If your hair gets oily very fast, don’t apply it to the roots, just on the ends of your hair.

If you have very light or blond hair this nettle treatment can darken your hair, so if you’re blonde you might want to skip it. You will need 1/4 cup of fresh nettle leaves (you can use the root too) or 2 tablespoons of dry nettle. If you’re using fresh nettle make sue that you wear gloves because nettle leaves can sting.
