Strawberries can regulate the production of sebum and can also remove the excess oil from your hair. They are rich in vitamin C, which is essential for the health of your hair. Blend 1/4 or 1/2 cup of strawberries and run them through a sieve to get rid of the tiny seeds. You can make this homemade hair mask just with strawberries or you can add other ingredients of your choice. Leave it for only 10 minutes, then rinse with water. After using this homemade hair mask your hair will feel and smell amazing.

Homemade hair mask for oily hair with egg white and lemon juice

This is a simple homemade hair mask that uses products that you probably already have in your fridge and cupboard. Beat one egg white until it forms stiff peaks then add 1 tablespoon of salt and the juice of one lemon. Mix everything well and apply the mixture on your scalp. Leave it on your head for 30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. When using hair masks that have egg in them, be sure to rinse the hair with lukewarm water so the egg won’t ‘cook’ in your hair. After rinsing, wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual.

Homemade hair mask with blue or green clay

Green or blue clay is a great item that can be used for homemade hair masks for oily hair. It helps to eliminate the dead skin cells from the scalp as well to remove excess oils. Don’t be afraid to use clay in your hair, if the clay is finely powdered you can rinse it off easily with shampoo even if the clay is completely dried. If you’re still not sure about using clay in your hair, you can test the mask on one strand of hair to see how well in comes off. For this basic homemade hair mask you will need just blue or green clay and water. Mix 2-4 tablespoons of clay (blue or green) with some water until you get the desired consistency (it shouldn’t be too thick). Rub the mixture on your scalp and massage it gently. Put a shower cap on and leave the mask on your hair. If you don’t want the mask to dry completely, you can rinse it after 10-15 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual.

Homemade hair mask for oily hair with clay and egg yolk

Green or blue clay also heals and soothes the skin. The clay contains large amount of minerals and one of them is silica, which promotes hair growth and has a positive effect on the scalp. The best clay for oily hair is green or blue clay, but generally all types of clay have absorbent properties. This homemade hair mask for oily hair takes a little bit more time to prepare , but it gives amazing results. Mix 2-4 tablespoons of clay (green or blue) with one egg yolk and a little bit of water. Rub the mixture on your scalp, put a shower cap on and leave the mask for 30 minutes. Rinse the mask well with lukewarm water (don’t use hot water so the egg won’t ‘cook’ in your hair) and wash your hair with shampoo or conditioner as usual.

Homemade hair mask for oily hair with yogurt

To this DIY hair mask you can also add 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice and a well beaten egg white. This hair mask can dry your hair because of the baking soda, so use it no more than once weekly and apply it only on your scalp. After you apply the mixture, leave it on your hair for about 30-40 minutes. If you add egg white in your hair mask, rinse with lukewarm water, if not you can rinse it with warm water. 1. Hi, I love the sound of all these hair masks but I’m wondering for these hair masks it says ‘wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner’. I don’t want to use shampoo and conditioner on my hair but plainly want to use a hair mask as I thing after using the hair mask when I use shampoo or conditioner it will just make my hair greasy again. Do you think i can use these hair masks without shampoo or conditioner.

    THANK YOU

    1. Hi, we’ve never tried the hair masks as a shampoo, but they might work because some of them have baking soda and lemon juice in them which are two ingredients that are commonly used in homemade shampoo recipes. Leave out the conditioner if it makes your hair greasy. You can test few hair masks and see if they’ll work for you or you can shampoo your hair just once and then use the hair mask as a conditioner and hair care treatment.

  2. Plus, if you want to get a thick hair, you can use avocado, olive oil, and banana. Olive oil has an effect on helping your hair to grow thicker. Meanwhile, avocado can add body and moisture your hair. In addition, avocado contains vitamin E which is able to contribute to the health of your hair shaft.

    1. The sea salt will help to clean your scalp from all the styling products and it’ll actually make your hair look thicker and fuller. We haven’t heard that sea salt makes the hair gray. If you don’t like putting sea salt onto your hair, you can simply omit it from the recipe and the lemon juice an the egg white will do their work.

  3. What types of products do you recommend for oily hair, as in shampoo, conditioner, etc. ? Also should I not be using leave in conditioner for my hair? I don’t know if I should use it. By the way my hair is oily and pretty thick

    1. Hi Ella. Leave in conditioner is something we won’t recommend since you basically leave product in your hair that will make it more greasy faster. instead just use normal conditioner and apply it only to your ends, avoiding your scalp and roots. Use gentle shampoo so that you won’t dry out your scalp too much and make your sebaceous glands produce more oil. Also try washing your hair every other day or every two days. Try shampoo for sensitive scalp, try testing several commercial brands. But if you want to try some natural shampoo and conditioners, here are few good ones (we have reviews on our website):
Madre Labs, Thickening B-Complex + Biotin Shampoo: https://goo.gl/DpvHCT

    1. Try using some of the masks once in every two weeks. Once you find the best homemade hair mask for your hair, try using it once a week and see how that goes.

  4. hi i just put the egg lemon juice and sea salt one in my hair and it’s sitting right now and that’s the one i did because those were the only ingredients i had at my house so i’m wondering what it’s going to do can u explain what it will do

    1. Hi Bella. The egg white contains a lot of protein and B2 vitamin which helps to keep your hair thick and your scalp healthy. And because egg whites don’t contain any fat (like egg yolks) they’re perfect for oily hair. Also did you know that most of the sulfur content of eggs is in the egg whites? Sulfur is a common ingredient used in anti-dandruff shampoos.
Sea salt contains lots of minerals that will revitalize the hair follicles and will help clean the scalp from excess sebum and styling products’ build-up.
Lemon juice also helps with cleaning the scalp from excess sebum and styling products’ build-up and it also helps with dandruff which is often linked with oily scalp.
      Hope this helps 🙂
