Why is water so important for our health?

Water is essential for our life. People can survive much longer without food than without water. The only thing that is more important for living is air.

Water is about 60-70% of our body weight. Therefore, every inch of our body needs water to work properly. Insufficient intake of water leads to dehydration, and in such a case the normal functioning of the body is impossible. Even poor dehydration immediately brings negative consequences as reduction of energy, headaches and fatigue.

Water speeds up the metabolism, increases energy levels, moisturizes the skin and helps the body to get rid of harmful toxins.

Here is why water is so important for our health:

Why is water so important for our health?Water increases our energy

One of the most common reason why people feel tired during the day is dehydration. Even the weakest dehydration leads to a decrease in energy. Water helps the blood to transport oxygen and other substances to different cells in the body. When the body has enough water, the energy level is bigger.

Water speeds up metabolism and helps us lose weight

That’s why every diet recommends drinking at least 8 cups of water daily. Drinking 1-2 glasses of water before a meal significantly reduces the appetite and leads to fewer calorie intake. But in addition, water speeds up metabolism, especially if it’s cold water. When you drink cold water, the body tries to warm the water, and to do so, the body consumes extra calories.

Water helps you to exercise better and more

Water regulates the body temperature during exercise. If you drink enough water, you’ll have more energy and strength to complete your exercise. In addition, water will help prevent muscle spasms. Therefore, drink plenty of water before exercising, during exercising and after physical activity.

Water improves digestion

Fiber and water are a powerful combination that improve digestion. In contrast, dehydration causes the body to absorb all the water, leaving dry colon, so it complicates the process of defecation.

Water reduces the risk of kidney stones

Experts warn that frequent cases of kidney stones in children and adults are due to insufficient intake of water. Water dissolves minerals and salts in the urine and don’t allow a stone to be formed. Drink enough water to significantly reduce the likelihood of kidney stones!

Water reduces stress and increases concentration

If we take into account the fact that about 80% of the weight of our brain is water, then it isn’t difficult to assume that dehydration is an obstacle for its normal functioning. Lack of water causes stress to the body and mind, and also reduces the ability to concentrate.

Water can alleviate headaches

Headache often occurs as a result of dehydration. In such a case, consumption of several cups of water might help you to reduce the unpleasant headache.

Water fights wrinkles and acne

Think about water as a natural thing that nurtures your skin in different ways. When the body is dehydrated, the fine lines and wrinkles are more visible. The water improves circulation so your skin will have a healthy glow. The only way that water can harm the skin is if you wash your face too often. The skin secretes natural oils that serve as protection, so if you remove the oils too often, you could be dealing with dry skin and appearance of wrinkles.

So, look for a small water bottle, drink in small sips and constantly keep it filled. Start today and keep your body hydrated.
