The method of putting makeup on your eyes is constantly changing and it’s becoming an art, but if you know the basic rules you will always be able to create your own make-up art on your eyes.
Basic rules for applying eye makeup
One common rule is to experiment with darker, bolder makeup during the night, and to keep it fresh, natural and simple during the day.
You can also use two or three different shades of the same color. The rule is to use the lightest color on the inner corner of your eye and to create a V shape on the outer corner of your eye with the darkest color. You can also highlight your brow bone with neutral color like pearly white or beige.

If you are just learning to apply liquid or gel eyeliner, you should start from the center of your eye, as close as possible to the eyelashes and draw a thin line all the way to the outer corner. Here you can extend the line for a ‘cat eye’ look. Then, starting from the inner corner of your eye, draw a thin line to the cener of your eye and connect the two lines.
If you have small eyes or you want to make your eyes look bigger, go with the ‘two lines’ look, line the upper lid and then draw a line to the lower lid as close to the eyelashes as possible and create a thin wing. Apply white eye pencil to your waterline – your eyes will look more open and fresh.

Blue is a cool color, so to accentuate it you can use warm color like gold, pink or even orange. Bur blue eyes can also pull off cool colors like silver, blue and gray. Green eyes can be a bit tricky to pair them with the proper eyeshadow shade. Hazel eyes is an eye color that is somewhere between brown and green. For more natural and everyday look, you can use taupe or silver gray eyeshadow and for more dramatic look, you can choose burgundy, copper or deep pink. These colors will help the hazel eyes to sparkle.
For more natural look, blond women with green, blue or grey eyes should use brown eye pencil as an eyeliner, and women with darker tan – black or dark gray. Black eye pencil makes the eyes more dramatic and harsh, and therefore gray is more preferable.
