5 simple homemade treatments for shiny and soft hair

Even the best hairstyle can look really bad if you have lifeless looking hair. On the other hand, a just washed shiny and soft hair that falls free on your shoulders can look attractive and luxurious like you just got out of expensive hairdressing salon.

If you want your hair to shine you should not neglect the basic hair care. Here are a few quick and simple homemade hair treatments that will make your hair soft and beautiful.

Homemade untangling hair spray:

Instead of combing nervously and plucking your hair while trying to untangle it, make a homemade untangling hair spray that will make your comb to easily glide through your hair. Fill two thirds of a spray bottle with warm water and fill it up to the top with hair conditioner that you normally use. Shake the bottle vigorously.

Spray the tangled hair with this solution and it will certainly reduce unnecessary pain and tearing of your hair. It is important to start untangling your hair from the ends with short movements and slowly to move up towards the roots. Shake the bottle before each use. If this homemade hair solution makes your hair oily, change the ratio of water / conditioner, i.e put more water and less conditioner.

Homemade hair wash with coffee (for brunettes)

Coffee will intensify the shine of your hair, but it is not recommended for blondes, as it might darker the hair color.

Make a really strong and dark coffee (very strong espresso works great) and allow it to cool. Wash your hair with shampoo like you do normally and then spray it with coffee (drained, without sediment). Leave it on your hair until you have finished showering and just rinse your hair with warm water.

How much coffee you need to use, really depends on the length of your hair. For short and medium long hair a cup of coffee will probably do, and if you have longer hair you’ll need maybe two cups. But keep in mind that it’s always good to have more than less.

Homemade hair masks for dry and damaged hairHomemade hair conditioner for dry and damaged hair

Dry and damaged hair is the biggest challenge to maintain because it looks stiff, has no shine and flies everywhere. Give a gentle softness to your dry hair with homemade hair conditioner made from egg yolk and baby oil.

You need:
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon of baby oil
some water

Beat the egg yolk well and then slowly drip in the baby oil until the mixture is well mixed and emulsified. You can also place the ingredients in a jar and then shake vigorously. Add around one or two tablespoons of water to thin the mixture a bit, until it looks like a shampoo or a thin conditioner, but don’t make it too runny. After washing your hair with shampoo, apply the mixture to your hair and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Be sure that the water is not too hot, or the egg will ‘cook’ on your hair.

This quantity of homemade hair conditioner is enough for short to medium long hair. If you have longer hair you’ll need to double or triple the recipe. If you like your conditioner to be scented, add one or two drops of your favorite essential oil.

Homemade hair mask for softness and shine

Soft and silky hair always looks great, and it is irresistible to the touch. Make your hair velvety soft with milk and egg.

You need:
1 egg
1 tablespoon of milk

Beat the egg and milk well and apply the homemade hair mask on your hair. Leave it to stay on your hair for 20 minutes. Wash with warm water and shampoo, again be careful that the water is not too hot so you won’t cook the egg into your hair.

Depending on the length of your hair you may need to double or triple the recipe of this homemade hair mask. Use whole eggs if you have normal hair. If you have oily hair, use the egg whites only, and if you have very dry hair, use the egg yolks only.

Homemade hair mask for deep revitalization

To protect the outer layer of your hair and to increase its shine, use this homemade hair mask for deep revitalization.

You need:
1 ripe avocado
1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of baking soda

Mash the avocados, add the baking soda and the olive oil and mix well. Apply the mixture on your hair and massage gently. Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse it with warm water and shampoo.

The baking soda will remove the accumulated debris from the everyday use of hair products, shampoos and conditioners. Thus, your hair will get shiny and will have a great volume and bounciness.
